How to get to Distributor bearing?

Decided to take apart my old distributor last night to try to replace the bearing. I managed to remove everything except for the bearing itself.

The question of the day is... How do I get into the section that is enclosed by the two magnetic "thingies" and the gear? :)

I can see the 3 screws that hold in the cover.

There is also what looks like a small pin (a tubular peice of metal) in one of the magnetic sections. Should I try to remove this? and what is the trick to get it out..

remove the 3 screws. DO NOT damage the oil seal when removing it. The bearing itself can be purchased but the oil seal cannot, they are both half sizes. The bearing i believe was like $35 or so.

Wow should have done this instead of buying a whole new distributor. I thought Honda never sold distributor bearings. Did you purchase yours from somewhere else? If so what size or type did you ask for?

honda doesn't sell dizzy bearings. I went to a bearing supplier here in hamilton.

Zeeman: So that shaft doesn't have to come out? I just remove the three screws in its current state?

If your CEL has already come on, you may not want to bother with the distributor bearing. This is from my experience that is :)

nope CEL never came on; I swapped in a new distributor allready - but it want to fix this one up "just in case"; since the replacement is acting up.. (or something with the ignition system... )
