How to E-Test on lowered cars?

I know this might sound like a dumb question to most, but i'm curious to know the answer.

Anyway last yr i etested my car which is lowered 1.8inches. But they could barely get it on the dyno and the guy said how he couldn't do it because the machine couldn't read it, but he ended up getting some reading to pass me. What do you guys do with really low cars?. Is there a E-test avaliable where the car doesn't need to go on the dyno for the test?. If anybody knows please help thanks.

What would the height of the car do with the emmissions test? The only problem I can see would be the diffaculty getting it onto a ramp or hoist

thats what he was talking about.... he clearly stated it had trouble getting on the dyno.

anyways, i think they can just do the idle test if the car is too low

No they can not do that, they will put the car on the dyno still, even if it hits the frame, they will still run it on the dyno, and if it's lower they will make ramps to get the car on the dyno. The 2 stage idle test is for only 4 wheel drive car and trucks only.

there are a few places that have the in-ground dyno's, i remember i had to take my civic there cuz i was lowered 2.5 - 3" and it worked just fine... the guy was a douche tho saying how insurance would cancel me because of my 'racing' pedals but i got my e-test and that's what counts...

just call around and ask which places have in-ground dynos

you can still have a problem with in ground dyno's.
because one the car is on the dyno the plate goes down which lowers the car even further. so it can touch the rollers.

the inground dyno I use the rollers are level with the ground...so anything can ge in that shop...and when the plate drops down and the wheels go in the "dip" between the 2 rollers if your car cant do that it wouldnt really make it out of a driveway, down the street etc

the plate only lowered far enough to allow the tires to touch the rollers... i was more worried about the straps that held my car there scratching/hurting the front/rear lips... there was TONS of clearance around the rollers cuz they are touching the tires... if you are that low you ain't goin anywhere and you might as well just raise it up just for the e-test or pay the extra to get it 'done' ...

My Integra was lowered on Nuespeed Race springs and it sat pretty low (2.5" front, 2" rear).

I had my e-test done at 2 different places over the 5 years I owned the car and never had an issue?

As suggested above, call around to find a place with in ground rollers or simply ask them on the phone if they are able to e-test a lowered vehicle.

Yeah, some shops have retarded "above ground" dyno rollers....where you have to put the car up up on an angle....kinda dangerous if you ask me. I've worked at shops with these above grond dyno etesters, not the greatest idea....especially for lower cars.

Try to find a shop that has inground dyno rollers. your car shouldn't have any problems with it.

i had my car lowered 3" and another 1/2" so 3 1/2" in total thanx to the shock perch. I could not go on to the rollers and was tested as hot rod, just had to do the idle test. Pretty much they just idled the car at different rpm's and i passed. So the idle test can be used and you dont have to always use the rollers. Depends on the shop i guess.

my car is lowered about 1.5 plus i have a kit on it...

i did my etest perfectly fine the first time they used inground rollers.. basicly i just drove over it and then they raised the rollers up...

then the second time i went somewhere else and they just did the etest at idle.

e test is every two years and safety is only when your putting the vehicle in your name.
