How do you determine what head you have ,,codeplacement?
OK if i have say 3 SOHC 1.6 heads in front of me, where on them do i look for codes and how do i tell what head is waht??
Like are they stamped D16a6, d16z6, and d16y8?? OR do they have difernet codes?? ANd where on the ehad? PICs would be great!

no the engine code is only on the block.. the heads will have a separate code indicating the head casting series. examples B18A/B and B20B/Z are PR4 (they use the same head ) B18C1= P72
there is also a series of circles on the left.. the 1st circle indicates the year the head was made. ie 9/8 means it was built in 1998 and was probably used in a 1999 model vehicle.
attached is a type r head (exhaust side) for illustration.
if you've got a old, dirty head all these things might camouflaged
