how to check if vtec solenoid is working

95 EG Si.
VTEC isn't working...I want to check if the solenoid is good. Is there a way to do this other than unscrewing it and inspecting it or going to scrap yards and stealing one from them?

well to check if the solenoid itself works, just put 12 volts to it and it should click. But the only way to tell if the vtec oil pressure switch works (the thing with the green plug) is to install it and try to hit vtec.
