How can u tell if it's the wrong ECU or not?

My gf has a eg hatch. Before it has a d16z6 si engine inside. The head went so we put in a JDM engine inside now. The ECU inside the car is P28 and that was for the si engine. Now i have a v-tec e from Japan. It says i should use P08J. It is a d15b with v-tec (e) economy with like 90 something hp. My gf car shakes sometimes in drive and reverse. Like the RPM drops when the car runs hot sometimes. It doesn't do it all the time. Could this be due to the wrong ecu? Could it also be the idle air control. Other than that. All the stuff in there is new. I also have a d16z6 si distributor. Would that effect the driving? I dun want her to be driving the car with so many problems. Any help will be appreciated. Thanx. If i need a ECU i will just buy 1. I don't want to buy 1 and the ECU is not the problem. The car is auto by the way.

Check the transmission fluid level for one. Sounds more like the problem is in the tranny then the engine. P08J I beleive is the right ECU. Clean the IACV and then try it again, but honda automatic trannies blow so look into it if it's shuttering. Could be like my old one and the torque converter was dying.

no the tranny shifts fine. It shifts no problem. I put the engine in and changed the tranny with all the oils changed. Honda automatic tranny don't go since it is automatic. They last forever.

I will check the IACV. So any1 know that if i use the P28 rite now, would it run properly or is it hard to say unless something acts wrong.

yah tha P08 is the one for that motor but the motors are both OBD1 sohc vtec motors so... as far as what i know you can use either. it is always good to use the proper ECU for what ever motor you are using unless you chip it and program what you want it to be.

Pm Zeeman (andrew) he might be able to explain to you something, also Revsto9 (dean) he is a honda mechanic and a great one at that. both of them guys could maybe, well for sure point you in the proper direction.
