how accurate is a stock ek cluster?

I am getting a swap this weekend and i am getting a b16 istalled... so, i am going to be using my stock cluster which "redlines" @ 6800 rpm... will this be just as accurate for the sir motor? i believe it redlines around 7600rpm? Thanks.

itll be fine

ayone know where the safe point is to rev a stock sir motor with m exhaust set-up would be? anyone know where thr rev limiter kicks in? i heard it revs up to 8200rpm

imported_t_dot_SiR 26-Mar-2006 01:34 PM

8200 unless you did tuning... have a setup without tuning doesn't mean you can safely go beyond 8200...

have fun with the b16... i'm sure you'll be revving it that high all day long.. for the fun and to get the fun =)

Your rev limiter will kick in at 8200, visually, because of your stock cluster, it will probably keep you from going that high, just out of habit. That's what it did to me, but I have since changed mine to a SIR cluster.

yeah, the stock cluster only goes to 8000... if i have an obd2 set-up and the original sir computer and switch to an sir cluster, what mileage will show? is it stored on the ecu or is it on the cluster (assuming its digital... if its analog it will start where it left off i know)

USDMSIG 26-Mar-2006 05:29 PM

No, if u swap to another cluster, the mileage will read what was on the cluster, its not digital, if u want your milege to be transfered to the new cluster take it to honda.

imported_mikepasini 26-Mar-2006 05:31 PM

how much would they do that for? cause i wouldn't mind keeping it accurate... i want an sir cluster, but i really want the mileage to be the same for the car

Double_B 26-Mar-2006 06:55 PM

Its not worth doing. If you are doing a swap and you want to keep track, just record what was on your last cluster and do the difference with the new and keep adding as you go along on an excel ****** sheet or something every so often when your mileage goes up.

My stock ECU from my EK shoes past 8000RPMS .. so when I really push it, the RPMS rev to the point where it doesn't register :) I have switched to OBD-I though so it may be different then yours.
