Home Car Repairs!?!?! Need Help
 

I have been keeping everybody updated on how dumb and cheap ive been lately lol. If you enter this section on the site often then you will remember my other thread about my car battery dying and me buying a second hand one from a scrap yard (to save money)and that one dying too. Im starting to beleive that it may also be the alternator because the car just drained another battery, the batt led in the car goes on and stays on when the car is started and last but not least i let the car run and disconnected the negative terminal from the batt and the car automatically shut off. Before i try to change the alernator myself i would like to know if it is a difficult task? am i better off changing it myself or towing it to a machanic which will obviously cost more money anyways could somebody please help me here please and thank you.....

PS Does sound like your alternator... and if you know how to change it yourself then obviously DO IT!! Head down to Air Rat and grab a rebuilt one cheap! even if you dont know how todo it, its not that hard at all... Get one of your buddys over and im sure you and him could figure it out in no time... its a honda.. and if you cant... then ummm.... take it to a shop lol...

honestly, nothing on a car is difficult to do. all you need is time, patience, space, lighting, and the right tools.

it really only gets difficult when you run into seized bolts.

borrow a repair manual from someone. disconnect the battery.

basically there are 2 bolts on the alternator. you may find it easier to get to if you remove the dr side wheel and splash shield. the adjustment nut on top and the fixed bolt on the bottom. remove both, and I recommend removing the brackets too to gain some space. then remove the elec connector and the terminal nut, then manouver it out of the engine comparment.

when putting it back in, torque the bottom one to 33 ft. lbs and the top one to 17 ft. lbs.

ok start the car if u get 14.4 volts the alt is good if not its ****ed u can get it rewound for 70$ if u are cheap :)

Ran into a little problem while attemping to take out alternator would anybody be able to come over to give me a little help?

well actually 2 problems firstly theres a seized bolt and secondly the belt out in dont wanna mess around wit it so i just left it for 2day
