Hole in my valve!!
 

Hope this is the right section....I'm in the process of rebuilding a d15b7 and the other day when I was taking the cylinder head and valve springs out I noticed one of the exhaust valves looked like this:

I talked to my engines prof and he said that this might be caused by a lean mixture which would result in the white buildup. The guy I bought it from told me that it wasn't totally running smooth and that the injectors may have been clogged which would cause the lean mixture...I'll probably be getting new (used) injectors anyways but I was just wondering if anyone else had some input of why this would happen.

Oh and what are some decent valves to get? haha!
Or can I use the valves out of the engine in my car now (D15B2) Should work right?

Yes OEM valves..

Your valve is burnt from one thing.. high combustion temperature.. it could of been numerous things.. overheating, lean mixture, poor cooling system, etc.

....I'd have that head checked for warping along the head to block surface area. Even still I probably wouldn't use that head...lol.

I had the same think on my D15B7. I was going to replace them,but now i have a new project going. You can get valve for not that much, maybe $5 a valve each.

Keep the head off and do a mini-me

thanks for the info...i'll find out if the head is warped but i was definately going to try the mini-me head swap with the D16z6 head. I was just trying to figure out if there were any other issues with the engine and fuel system that'd i'd have to deal with later on.

I've been reading up on the mini me and realized that the d15 conrods are pretty fragile so i was also wondering if any d16 rods would be a good match?... do they fit?.. are there any clearance problems?

Vtec and different compression ratios......better than my d15b7 i guess.haha

i got a y8 head and IM if interested..

And it's not worth swapping rods, don't even bother.

D16 pistons will not work in that engine with a D16 head (from what I've read)
The D16 head gives a higher compression ratio and vtec. Some love it, some hate it, some don't see any difference.

the d15 rods will be ok for the 120whp you'll be making (if tuned properly and you have the supporting mods).
Be aware that an increase in compression will usually require higher octane gas to be used.
I'd definately do up a mini-me, no better time than now. Just make sure to get the new head you'll be using resurfaced and checked out by a machine shop.
