ya i never understood why people put tips on there cars that face up.. looks stupid when the water is pouring out when you accelerate dont you think? and wouldnt it just make the exhaust rust out from the inside out?

The reason for the "tilt", is that the exhaust mid pipe was a straight setup, under the gas tank then out to the back. Due to the nature of the size of the canister, people didn't want to scrap that thing all day, so they made it to tilt up a little, for clearance.

This set up is mostly used for track and off road application. Resonator is often eliminated for this.

If you want to make your exhaust tilt this way just at the axle back, it is doable. But it is only for looks and a tilt muffler is very noticeable to police.

looks like car has an erection. and yes, rust would form unless you drilled a hole in the pipe at the lowest point.

on the del sol its easier to slant because the car is low stock and there is a place to tuck the muffler under the bumper a bit so no water would get in there!

Unless your car is not tuned or running rich, your bumper won't turn black.

Seriously, why is everyone so afraid of the word rice?? You all know you've been there, F15 fighter jet aluminum spoilers, white face gauges, be real and know that the JDM "fad" is infact the new rice. Anyhow to answer your question, I'd goto Pipes, he does amazing work and is really reasonable price wise. And as for what i think? To each there own, here's a picture of a del sol, make your own decision. Goodluck.
