does anyone know what is wrong with my car like source problem or what i have to replace, my check engine light keeps coming on, so i go to my mechanic and he tells me its a code forget the number but it reads "high map voltage" it drains gas because it turns the revs up and has a wicked sounding backfire, but i would much perfer to save the money in gas, any help would be much appreciated, and thanks again to all who helped me with my tranny

well, on a 98, when it says bad map sensor, test the map sensor and replace as necessary. voltage table is available in Helms, I don't have it handy.

this is a common problem with these pesky 98 civics. there is a kit from honda, that you can buy which is an updated map sensor. it relocates from where it originally is on the intake manifold and comes with brackets and such. so you should buy the kit i believe it's somewhere in the neighborhood of 120$ but replace the sensor ...good luck
