High flow cat. opinions
I'm looking to buy a high flow cat in the near future, but I just have a few questions before I make the purchase. Are there any opinions on which brand I should go with? From what I understand, Carsound and Magnaflow are the same thing? Also, i've read about some cats going after a year or so, i'd rather buy one that will last me a while. I'm also trying to figure out the going rate on these things, so far i've gotten prices for about $200.
Opinions/feedback/experiences would be nice, TIA. |
Take your old cat off, Get test pipes, keep your old cat for emmisions... and swap it back on before your test thats my opinion less restriction = better flow..
i do have a magnaflow h/f cat its fine (the baffles did go after awhile... ty waranty) ...oh if you get caught without a cat your car will be pulled off the road big downside... :drivesafe |
so why are you suggesting to go without a cat then? i just think that is a bad idea altogether.
i have a magnaflow 3" cat. i bought it brand new off someone here and put flanges on it for less than $200. has worked fine so far. |
:o you dont need a cat for the track..
Yes not having a cat isnt always the best idea... but its a noticable difference when you dont have one is all im saying. Use your discretion though. |
Magnaflow=GOOD!!!

I def. do not want to go straight pipe or test pipe, its not a track car...even it was I wouldnt.

Originally posted by electronblue Anybody pass emissions with their high flow cats?? I did, but used the SAFC in my colt to fool it. When I gutted my 2.5'' cat, I noticed a difference but to me it wasn't worth it. Think about the ticket youre gonna get when you get caught. The smell also, in traffic I was about ready to die. Your ass dyno will feel the difference just be careful. |
pipes in scarborough does it for way less than 200

passed with flying colours

get a Test Pipe and drive with it on...my .02

I got a Magnaflow High Flow Cat but its only been a year and its already bad. There is also a small pin hole in it that I got tacked until I get a new one.

I have just picked one up from Jackson racing...it is on their web specials page...full stainless steel...shipped from california...with pet for the O2, flanges on the end...new hardware and gasket was about 130 when it was all said and done...shipped and exchange...I would definatley suggest looking there...it took about 2-3 weeks for it to arrive.
