I'm running about 12.8:1 compression, and was having problems starting last winter. Is there anyway I can prep the car so it'll start in the cold?

The compression ratio really isnt that high that the stock starter cant handle it because if it was it would likely have more problems in the summer when the starter is hot because its less effecient. It sound like what you need is a battery with more CCA's.

12.8 isn't that high?!?!? Pretty damn high for an all season daily driver if you ask me.

Hard starting by cranking over slowly or same cranking speed but takes longer to start?

Maybe a block heater?

I know there was a couple days last winter up here in Petawawa it was just too cold to start your car. Same cranking speed, but just wouldn't catch.

when it starts keep your foot on the gas at 1500 rpm for a minute or so till it warms up a bit or like what was already said, get a block heater. i have 13:1 and thats what i was doing.
