Si Veloz and loudsubz, I know you were discussing high output alternators earlier... what's the story?

carkilla, you can always check sites like car domain and other audio sites, and see what the other 01+ Civics are running.

Not sure about the 2K1 civics, but I do know that you can use a higher amp alternator on other older model Honda/Acuras. My friend has one on his Integra with no problems.

ok amps is a way of measuring current...

voltage is measured in volts....

now that the friggin basics have been done ... as long as the alternator doesn't put out more voltage then the stock alternator then no damage will come no matter what the current is it's outputing.

and there's your answer if you take your stock alternator (14.4 or so volts) and replace it with one that is of higher voltage rating then poof there goes your electronics for the car.

I hope this clears this up

yeah but some cpu`s wont let the extra amps run through the electircal system, all i realy need to know is if the voltage regulator is in the cpu or is external and if i can disable it.whenever you get a higher amp alt you get more volts thers almost no way of avoiding it.we might be goin with a 200amp alt so i need to know, has anyone ever done this or do you guys just replace them all the time?i dont want to be needing to put a 15 farad cap on just to keep the amps and voltage up
thanks
