hey guys i have an ek sedan and i am thinking of doing a motor swap i either want to go to a gsr motor or a type R
which one is better and if anyone know how much they cost

Xscorpio 10-Apr-2006 11:43 AM

usually gsr goes for 2200-2700 dollar, and type R goes around 3500-4200 dollar.

depends what you wana do, or what your future plans are both motors are diffrent in there own way.

where do you source your motors? legit? haha

well... most type-rs now are 3800-4500 (talk to goosesh!t, he has pretty decent prices, or teknotik guarantee quality)
gsr is roughly 2800-3500

its the sir that range from 2000-2500

and why do those price varies? it ranges from truly legit with cluster and documented to non-legit... also it ranges from a quality dealer/seller to a fishy seller... and of course, it ranges from quality to fcuk up...

when you look into a motor swap... try to find a reliable seller as the priority, not the price... you might spent more in the end... for example... tranny grind, fcuk up clutch, constant beating, badly maintained, fake mileage (without documentation and cluster)

if you plan on turbo, gsr, if you plan on n/a.... type-r
if you won't have money to start on any turbo or n/a... type-R is a good starter if you have 4000-5000 to spent... consider your suspension is good enough =)

goodl uck

i have a 00 gsr motor with skunk2 intake manifold for $3600 installed or i have a brand new built ls/vtec for $5000 installed(itr head and tranny, will make 200whp with a good tuning)

t_dot_SiR. ppl like you what every shop wants. so they can rip you off up the rear. shop around and talk to them dont just go to the sites and spit out numbers.

200 dollars here and there is no biggy.
AND YES I AM TALKING ABOUT LEGIT MOTORS.

Xscorpio , YOU truly dont know what your talking about.....

Compare apples to apples!

imported_t_dot_SiR 10-Apr-2006 10:50 PM

haha... i know we can probably knock off another 200... but its just that if you want quality, you have to pay the $$... and i'm referring to "reliable" seller, not every shop i would think they worth the price they are asking for...

i'm just saying... you buy at a shop that you believe its worth paying for... like i wouldn't mind paying 3500 for a gsr at teknotik, because they do have one of the reputation, and they do go through a great process in picking out the best jdm motors... they need profit... come on... it would cost you more than 2000 to fly to japan and look yourself, right?

Xscorpio 11-Apr-2006 12:00 AM

oh def teknotik is the best shop imo to get motors, because eric will go that extra mile to find the best motor for you and help you in anyway possible.

i was just talking gsr and type r motors in general that they cost around that much and 200 less or more then what price i stated it not a big deal, which are your prices.

i could careless you can go to japan and buy motor straight from spoon for your "reliable" high "priority" and dont care about the price and you will get your "documentation" on a gold platter, which will cost you an arm and a leg.

thx for reading

PS: eric i will "Compare apples to apples" and make sure i pick the best apple available for the best price possible.:naughty:

:goof:

gsr= 3500 and up
sir= 2500 and up
type r= 4200 and up

these are the prices on average. if you see anything less then whats set forth its STOLEN or the motor is ****.
simple as that.

I was actually shopping around for a GSR today. I just want the motor though not the whole swap.
Anyhow, prices range from 3200-to 3800 for the complete swap. Which were all 97+ motors.

I also found good prices for just the motor and intake w/ TB for 2000 to 2800.

I already have a B16 and this motor is gutless. I'm gonna upgrade to GSR and use some of my old DSM parts and boost the **** out of it.
