ok i dunno what's up but my honda civic is making these weird hissing sound ( can't really describe it but sounds somewhat like...static or someone blowing lightly on a whistle ) whenever i step normaly on the gas, if i step hard it doesn't make the sound...

this is starting to get annoying and it really bugs me, anyone have any idea what's going on? has this ever happen on your civics please help

yea it sounds like its coming from the engine....i doubt its normal when i first got the car a month ago it didn't make this noise....till a bit later but it was soft now with the new intake its louder

Yep, there's your answer. Sound is coming from your intake. That's normal.

just pop the hood while its running and listen for the noise... also, you might have a hole in your intake too, that could cause a noise like that...

lightly touch the throttle while you are under there and listen for the noise...

perhaps something to do with a vacuum hose?

im thinking maybe its spark plugs that needs changing?

cuz it sounds electric now that i listen to it more

sparkplugs dont make noise hahahaha


the only noise it would make would be a clicking sound as it arced onto the block or the cover


if u just installed and intake and the noise apeared then its something 2 do with that


what intake did u buy ???



take the filter off the end and see if it gets louder just dont go 4 a drive rev the motor with ya finger whilst under the hood


its the noise of the air being sucked into the motor


or just get a hoodie or jacket cover the intake and then rev it up if its quieter then wolla its the intake

well a co worker helped pinpoint the where the noise was comming from and it is the intake...

here's the thing though this happed after i pushed the car hard on the highway when it struggled to go past 120km with the stock intake...(i only had this car for a month) and the sound started appearing ..but was faint ....now that i've installed the new aftermarket intake (some noname brand got at Pacific mall)

the noise is louder and i think it got louder since...it even overlaps the engine roar when i step on the gas

thats not the VTEC kicking in..... is it............?? LOL

i had a similar problem turned out to be an exaust leak at the header........just pop the hood and give it a try

i've poped the hood but can't really dertermine the problem since it only makes a "turbo whistle" once when its idle...the constance whistle noise only happens while the im driving...people are telling me this is normal for an aftermarket intake

Mine did that too for a while but it went away, still don't knwo what was causing it.

if u go the stock sohc its normal if u whant it to go away just turn back ur dizz to take timing out it will go away... car might get slower tho
