HELP: Upper ball joint is sqeeking.

I noticed today when I turned my wheel left and right I can hear squeeking. Its coming from the left side and I have a feeling its my ball joint. I've seen what a Honda will do when the ball joint breaks and I don't want to go down that path. I haven't had to replace the ball joints on my car before so I'm asking for some guidance on what parts I should be looking for. Do I need to replaced the entire upper arm? How much does this part usualy cost? How much does it usualy cost to replace this (parts, labour, etc)?

Thanks for all your help in advance,

well the part is about $100 (if its the upper) and its the whole upper control arm. Install is rather simple and shouldn't be any more than 1 hour labour if you take it to a shop.

Is there a specific brand I should stick with? Should I buy OEM Honda or any generic brand will do?

Thanks,

Jack the car up and feel the wheel for play in the ball joints. Squeaking noise chould also be control arm bushings, very comming to make the noise.

For suspension bits like ball jointsm, tie rod ends I always go Honda OEM. Can't go wrong with Parway member discount either.

Depends on what kinda shape the car is in. If it's uber mint, then yeah OEM is the way to go. If it's a rustbucket, then get NAPA parts (or look for Moog parts). But ultimately to check whether it's good or not, jack the car up and remove the wheels. Take a pry bar and pry at the ball joints in everywhichway you can. Any play, and you should replace it. If you wanna do it yourself, have a torch handy to help get the balljonts out. The lower is replacable, the upper comes with a whole new control arm.
