Help with performance upgrades PLS

Hey whats up everyone I need some help with performance upgrades, I'm still sorta a noob. I'm now getting into more detail performance upgrades but the problem is I don't know where to start.

I use to do the minor things like Intake, Headers, Exhaust but thats about all I know to upgrade. Justs wondering what else I can upgrade to gain some power, I'm not trying to go for some crazy set up just wanted to get an idea what to upgrade to get some power/performance from my engine.

I currently have a 01 Civic Ex SOHC Vtec 1.7 ( here in USA ) I think this engine is the Si model there i'm not sure but I know that the Si here is a SiR there.

So any input on what to upgrade what to improve in my engine to gain some power no matter how much power or how much money it would cost I just wanted to know what part that i needed to upgrade to gain some power/performance

Thx in advance for any input at all =D

you stated what you need to do. cai, header, cat back exhaust. you are removing restrictions in the system to help the engine breathe easier.

Well you can either look down the road and just get a custom built/tuned Turbo which will obviously give you the most gains. Or if you want to jsut have some more bolt ons. You can get New Camshafts, Lightened Flywheel (For Manuals), Port and Polish the Head, High Flow Catyltic Converter, etc

build the head would be the easiest.. new cams, cam gears, valve springs, valves.. maybe port and polish.. mill the head a bit or maybe a thinner head gasket to gain some compression.. oh yeah, do the intake manifold and throttle body along with the intake/header/high flow cat/exhaust..

make sure you get a good tuner to tune it after you build the head

Whats the difference with the intake manifold or the throttle body, isn't that the part where you hook up the intake pipe, I just thought that some civic engies have a intake manifold insted of a throttle body, i'm kinda confused about this part. Or is the intake manifold and the throttle body the same part just 2 different name just like header and exhaust manifold

http://www.torontocivics.com/tccforums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=38355 use the search. i wouldnt waste time/money on the d-series though. if u want go NA power just build a b20/vtec or LS/vtec swap...or even just a b16/18c1...

he has a 7th gen civic.

to gain real power on the d17 the only way is turbo or nitrous.

but honestly for the amount of money you are going to spend on turbo + motor build you should just do a k20 motor swap.

check out the performance area from 7thgencivic.com for more tips on how to get some more power out of your motor.

info on the k20 swap and motor www.k20a.org

K20 is a given, unless he wants to work with whats he has by all means go for it,

but when u have RSX motors for 2500 thats like enxt to nothing, given the fact that everything comes with it as well, subframe, ecu, tranny etc...

All your answers will be answered there. You can go the force inducted route.. or NA.

There is an Engine Building d16's thread on the engine building section that you should really read

rice-01 29-Nov-2005 11:11 AM

but its a d17.

d17 NA is a complete waste of time.

parts are expensive and not readily available.

i made more power taking off my powersteering belt than i did with intake header and exhaust
