HELP! my speedo STOPPED working

HELP! my speedo STOPPED working and my engine light is now on.

My car is a 96 civic

Any ideas how I can fix this? is it an easy fix?

VSS most likely has moisture in it or a broken connection between the VSS and the ECU.

MAYBE it is a good time to get a cluster with a RPM gauge?

well if it just went out in normal weather then it could be the cluster. i had the same problem on my speed sensor. when it rained real hard my sensor would be soaked in water and my speedo would stop working. pull the speed sensor off to see first. it's easier to check the speed sensor rather than pulling the whole cluster off your dash and then prying it apart to check the chip in the back. if there is moisture in there, just put some electric grease in there for a quick fix.

check the speedo cable maybe coming from the block.

it will be on top of the transmission close to the firewall, you should see a connector with 3 wires going to it i believe.

Looks like this below with the bottom part being inside the tranny...

it sits under the stock airbox tube right on the tranny behind the the tranny mount bracket sorta.
