Angry Help!! Hybrid owners....E-test

Took the smoke test today for the 2nd time and the car failed again.

For those of you that have hybrid engines how many have had problems w/ taking the emission test? What were the problems?
What was done to correct them?

Any suggestions?

did you REALLY clean the throttle body .

intake manifold

intake plenum

new air filter

did you really drive the **** out of it before the test.

these are proven to work.

are they testing the engine based on the VIN or

what is acually under the hood.

my cousins B20B hatch just passed emissions from the first try a couple of days ago. the things exhaust is pretty much just a straight pipe and Jugglez can testifie to this...

they tested the car under "hot-rod" settings because of the bigger motor, thanks for the advise HappyB16

What Camille is trying to say is that you need to inform them that it is NOT the stock motor sitting in that engine bay. They will then classify your vehicle as a "HOTROD" and your emissions requirements are a lot more lax.

Regards,
OK

If they do your emissions under a hot-rod classification doesn't it get back to your insurance company?

Figured insurance agencies would have access to that government stuff. Don't meen they'd check on a regular but they could if they wanted to do an audit on ya or sumtin.

Will a header and intake effect the emissions levels. I had my car on the dyno running a test and my nox levels were really high. Should i put the stock air box and header back on?

Header and intake won't affect emmissions. I had I/H/E on my old 92 Civic and had no problems passing the E-test. Your high NOX levels are likely the result some other problem.

Did you clean the TB, intake plenum, and intake mainfold and slap on a new filter before the test?

It really helps..

I haven't done anything to clean the throttle body. Will this make a huge difference? What causes high nox levels, bad O2 sensor, cat etc. Any help would be great, it's always one thing after another.

i don't exactly know what timing they were talking about but if someone can shed some light on that it might help you pass...or anyone else......

cheers
