HELP! Fuel Pump
Hey everyone,
This morning I tried starting the car but it wouldn't turn over. I could hear the starter turning and there was power to everything and there was spark. So I tow it to my mechanic and of course...the stupid thing starts. So I drive it home b/c its kind of hard to diagnose. Started up the car tonite and booted it around for a bit...The IDLE was normal pretty much until the car warmed up. Then I noticed as I stopped at a red light that the IDLE was dropping below 500rpms. I had to give it some gas to keep the revs up so it wouldn't die on me. I am pretty sure my fuel pump is dieing on me but need some more input. What do y'all think? Thanks in advance for the help EDIT: I just got the fuel filter changed |
could be ur distributor :)

So today with frost all over my car i tried to start the car...I did not hear the fuel pump prime, so i am thinkin that that is my problem...Usually I hear it click as well as something in the dash after 2 seconds of it being in the III position.
Any input guys/gals? Is my fuel pump toast? Then today after school in +8 weather i went to start the car and it started fine.... Any help would be great thanks!! |
drove the car for a bit today....died all of a sudden in traffic......pulled over.....and i smelt fuel.....diagnosis bad fuel pump???
plz help |
not likely. check fuel pressure at the fuel rail, should be 42 psi @ prime, 38 at idle. It does sound like bad spark to me, from plugs, wires, cap and rotor... possibly even distributor. don't guess at the problem, pop your hood and diagnose it logically.
