HELP coolant squirting problem......
 

so i've had this problem for a while now, but since it was cold it went away but now that its warming up its come back, i changed a pipe and thought that was it, but then today i finally figured out where the coolant was leaking from!!

i've had my cold air intake for about 4 years now and that pipe was always left dangling and I was told that the pipe left like that was fine, but now this coolant is squirting out of it......what does this mean???

on the older model civics theres a coolant line running against there. I think I see it in your picture, but am un-certain. My guess would be that the elements ate away the pipe inside and theres a tiny hole in there, hence why its leaking. There has to be a hole in there for it too leak.. because the heater hose part and the part coming from the block should be your PCV system.

yeah there is a hole, i filled coolant warmed it up, drove hard, came back in the driveway and quickly opened the hood to see it squirting all over the back of my engine bay. See in that second pic up there.....it's squirting all over to the right of that picture, and i clearly saw the hole, but my question is, that pipe just sitting there is ok right?? and how did coolant start squirting out of there all of a sudden...??? It is that EXACT pipe that is circled in the second pic that has the hole..........it's an 89 EF DX.......

i need to see it in person before I make a judgement. But its not hard to figure out which pipe is coolant and which was your old breather line.

Just follow the hose.. or un-hook it and if coolant comes out.. you found your coolant hose. How the hole got there.. was probably just from the elements or vibration. Things dont last forever.

yeah but that hose isn't hooked up to n e thing, so i don't think coolant should be coming out of their period, because one end of the hose goes into my intake manifold and then the other one isn't hooked up to n e thing........oh no so i think coolant is leaking into my intake manifold.....****............???????

the part of the hose that isn't hooked up to anything is a completely diff hose then the one leaking coolant, the are just bound together at the top there. that decending hose should not be dangling on its own. that is a coolant line.

simply replace that little hose and you will be fine.
like chris said, the elements probably just got to it and cause it to bulge and weeken (like an anurism hahaha)

p.s. i don't think that hose should be just left open. you can be doing damage to you engine by allowing dirt to be sucked in there. you should at least plug it

what it is is supposed to be attached to the back of the intake manifold right by the head there. check and see if its attached cause most likely its leaking right out of the back of the manifold. if it is connected remove it and replace it.

if it still is leaking get the best pic you can of the back there and i will see if i can help ya out.

thanks guys, it wasn't as serious as i thought, i forgot to see that the pipe is connected to a coolant pipe in the back.......so i replaced the pipe and so far everything seems to be fine.....
