Help with Coilovers

I'm currently have Eibach Sportlines and Koni Yellow's on my car, but I'm thinking it's time for a change.. (I love the ride and adjustability, but wouldn't mind something "better").. my choices thus far are:

JiC's

Mugen Sports Suspension

and

KW's the Variant 2's

KW's and JiC have damper and height adjustability, Mugen doesn't (but it's Mugen eh ) according to King's the mugen drop is only 35mm .. is that approx 1 inch? a little less?)

KW's are nice, cuz it's stainless, but I'm worried about the weight... JiC's weigh in at a total of 58 pounds (all 4).. dunno if that's good or bad??

just need some insight from ya guys.. and maybe any other brands that I could choose from.. judging by the 3 of these systems I'm prepared to spend the $... thanks

well I'm not 100% sure, b/c Mugen aint adjustable.. although the rate they set it at is already "Optimum" for performance and ride comfort... and if it's only like 3/4" drop then I dunno... the Mugen suspension is the cheapest out of all 3, but like I said, no adjustments at all

35mm = 3.5cm = something like 1.7" cuz i think it's approximatley 2.5cm in an inch or whatever.

There are way better setups to be had for the money you are looking to spend.

I like (but don't know if they make your application) the following in no particular order:

H&R
Progress
Ohlins
Fightex
Tein
KW
JIC
Apexi
Bilstein
Carrera

Those are just ones off the top of my head. Just cuz Mugen makes something good doesn't mean they make EVERYTHING good. I mean, I'd buy a Exedy clutch, but that doesn't mean I'd buy an Exedy intake manifold if they made one. Know what I mean??

I'm sure it's nice, and performs really well, I just think it'll be overpriced. Also, for a McPhearson - really be careful of how much you lower it. There is not a lot of susp there to play with.

I wasn't actually leaning towards Mugen .. JIC was my top choice, but I wanted to hear some opinions or testimonials on either KW or Mugen..

correct BoOsTZeX!

SiR_YO, key thing to remember is that you can't slam this ride. Your current setup isn't too bad... why is it that you want coilovers? Soley for the height adjustability or are there other reasons?

"How does 550 lbs./in in the front and 900 lbs./in in the rear grab you? We also raised the car approximately 7/8" in an effort to gain back some suspension travel lost when the car was lowered "to look good" The combination of the raised ride height and Ground Control camber plates has effectively doubled our available suspension travel. This, my friends, is noticeable"

This is what I'm saying... there is such minimal susp travel on these cars that a compromise between ride comfort, look, and performance is very hard to strike. I definitely recommend camber plates... whether Ground Control, Cusco, or JIC. My buddy had CUSCO ones on his WRX... when he put his stock plates back on the car dropped another 1/2 inch I think... it got mad slammed. y0!

Tough call... you want it to perform, you want the same ride height, and maybe 75%F/ 125%R stiffer springs. You wanna look good, you gotta get low. what do YOU want?

Oh, and 1 inch = 25.4 mm, so 35mm = 1.38 inch, less of a 1.5" drop. But it might settle to that much after a period of time.

ya, I know I can't slam my ride.. the height I'm at right now is decent.. but I'm worried that once I put my body kit on it'll suck *** in the winter.. currently I'm ok, but my midpipe drags the snow.. and it's hard as hell to go over speedbumps without scraping it..

I like my setup as far as the ride.. Koni Yellow's are great shocks, and I would recommend it for anyone, but they don't have the perch adjustments for my front (only the rears), and I wanna go more JDM .. I've heard nothing but good from JIC so, I think it's time for a change.. all in all height adjustability is a great bonus, and still be able to keep the damper adjustments..

I see.. 1.5" aint too bad.. that's what I have now with my eibach's... but it might be too low for next winter if I put my body kit on..

buddy club is nice.. I haven't really looked into it though
