help!!!

OK, I'm sure everyone already knows that I have the worst luck in the world. Here is my latest episode: Nice day to change oil, right? WRONG! My oil filter came out WITH the threaded bolt that holds it to the block. Does this bolt have to be put back in with a gun? The guy at the oil change place said that it wouldn't go in far enough by hand in order for the filter to contact the block. The car is sitting like 150meters away from my house. I'm too scared to even drive it that far. I think I'll wait until night time to push it home.

Trystan you jerk! Anyways, my buddy that works with Leitner is coming with a new bolt. What are the chances that it will hold strong enough putting it in manually?

the "threaded part" is called the oil filter spiggot threads. ok, what you can do (if it won't thread in by hand) is use a pair of vice grips to turn it in the rest of the way (until it stops turning)... be sure to use a towel or rag to cover the threads, so as to not damage them. also, some spiggots can be tightened using a hex key, but not all have this feature.

next time you decide to go to j.l., let me know... I can tell you without a doubt that I've got several years more experience mainly doing oil changes than all the staff combined from the Oakville location.

you did say you're in Hamilton once in a while.
