Heat Problem

I just had my thermostat replaced, because the car was overheating. When I hade the overheating problem and even now after the repair, the car will not give off heat unless it moving. I can let me car warm up for 10 minutes or so, the temperature gauge is just below the half way point. You would think if I turn on the heat at this point I would get warm air. Instead it’s cold air. If I take it for a quick boot, only then will the heat come on. If I leave the heat on while driving and come to a stop light, as soon as I stop. I can feel the temperature of the air going down.

Anyone ever have this problem? Any idea?

Not sure how prominent the reduction of heat is but this is normal in the winter, with temps such as today's -20. The car basically will stop producing heat very quickly unless you car is reving and the waterpump is circulating the coolant.

Try revving your car in park/neutral to like 2-3K (normal driving rpm) when you come to a stop light and see.. It'll get warm again.

Also, the temperature guage at normal op temp after first start isn't always as warm as it seems. After driving for a while, the heat will be much hotter yet the operating temp is the same, once the engine is properly heated and full coolant flow has occurred..

so bleed the system..

Personally I would just bring it back to the shop.
