head replacement
ok, the other day my timing belt broke on my crx si (d16a6) and it ended up ****ing up my #4 cylinder. it took a while but we replaced the timing belt and then did a compression test to figure this out. 3 of the 4 had 150 and the 4th had 0. anyways i figure i gotta change the head or get it rebuilt. i was wondering, my buddie has a 89 civic cx witha working motor, would that head fit on my car and if it does would i loose any power cuz i have an si. also approximately how much does a head for a d16a6 usually go for and what are my other options?
it really sux rite now cuz i have no way to get around except my bmx bike. any info asap greatly appreciated |
you will lose quite a bit of power with the other head.
check junk yards for a Si head or contact Steve_Leitner for a mild head rebuild. |
well if your head is messed up what makes you think that the block isn't?
I mean, if the piston hit a valve and bent it wouldn't there be damage to the piston too? |
i dunno you tell me
anyone else??
pull the head and see
generaly if you hit the valves an they bend the piston will be ok(but check it anyway) pistons get broken by bits of brokn valve when the valve breaks and the car will not run/turn over.
the car starts but the #4 cylinder has 0 compression, so steve you're saying that i could probably just replace the head and it would be ok?
maybe you bent a valve or two, if you did that particular cylinder with the bent valve(s) wouln't hold compression, pull the head off and asses from there.
so its just the head?
