h22a swap

ive been lookin at this a bit, and i really like it except for the idea of losin the a/c and p/s... honestly, the ac is not a big deal, but i really want the p/s. is there any way to keep it, and how difficult would it be in terms of $$$ ....

thanks boyz, the bad black si needs sum torque =) and it looks like this may be the way to go.

There isn't much you can do about it...well, except for ripping the nose off and extending the chasis like about 6 inches...hahaha...trust me, I had to do that to one of my friend's car because he insisted he wanted a/c...to make up for the added space as far as the body look was concerned, I adopted a 93 prelude front end to it...looks ok...but, the power steering is harder to keep...because the unit is bulky and being that the Civic engine bay isn't forgiving as far as space is concerned, droppin in an H22A isn't going to leave much space for anything...it was hard enough trying to make room for the CAI without the hood smashing down on it...hahaha...but, that's my opinion...you're welcome to your own...I'm also thinking of droppin in an H22A as well...but, more thinking of droppin in a B20 block with a B18C5 head...odd as it may sound, I believe with this set up, I'll have more power and more space for both....it's your call.

Actually to take back my last statement, but, there is a way to keep both...according to my colege, he says that it is possible...but, will need to bang out some walls...whatever that means...hahaha...

I believe I read somewhere as well that it is possible to keep A/C and/or PS, they just have to be relocated.

I'm sure it can be done... not 100% sure.. cause I haven't installed a H22 into a EG yet. I've installed one into a TEG.. For that... there was enough room to run the P/S.. and with a little bit of creativity.. the A/C will work too. If the EG engine bay is anything like a TEG.. It'll be fine with alot of :working:

I called a buddy that lives in japan to get the answer from honda japan.

After asking alot of people at honda
he hooked up with one of the signal auto guys and they both drove over to the new SpooN shop to talk to them.

Once there they called over to JUN and had a guy sent over to the shop

The JUN guy showed up with two guys from SRR

well it was a 3-2 split and need to be contacted with your answer

I'm looking into this swap myself. Actually I'm saving for it cause it's the swap I'm doing. I'll most likely have KS-R do it in my EG. I don't mind losing power steering and my car doesn't have a/c anyways. There's a guy on the Honda-Tech.com msg board who makes makes a bracket so yopu can keep power steering and a/c. Just do a search I believe his name is Prospeed or something like that.

Also remember the mount kit for this swap is pricey, around $1200 for the HASPORT kit, someone correct me if I'm wrong. You might want to consider getting custom axels made for your car, I am getting custom ones after hearing some of the horror stories, one guy I talked to had a h22 in his 93 teg w/ a turbo and in 1 year he spent $500 on axles because Honda ones break like tooth picks. Another point if you like having your car dumped, and I mean DUMPED, then you will scarpe the header, the down pipe/collector section and might want to look into a custom one. I did today and a local exhaust shop can do it but the engine has to be in the car first. Also you need good suspension to handle the power this thing puts out but it won't affect your handling as much as everyone says it will.

I've learned a lot about this swap so I can help you a bit, PM me or talk to me at the meet tonight if I'm there, guy with the captiva blue eg hatch, also (I like that word ) go on to Honda-Tech.com and run a search in the eg/del sol + forum for H22A, you'll learn a lot.

Hope that helps!

I've been using HCP mount kits for the H22 swaps.. I find they're somewhat easier to use than the Hasport and seat the motor pretty good. Vibration isn't too bad.
