h22a in civic keeping auto tranny

i was wondering if it's possible to swap a h22a into a 2000 civic si and having the prelude auto tranny swapped in as well. I know many of you wil say search but most swaps are in regard to manual tranny swaps. I have a 2000 civic si and the engine seems to be failing so i was thinking of swapping an engine but retaining the auto tranny and what other suitable motors would be good for a swap but are fairly reliable but put out more power than my d16y8. thx

B18B or C - Integra LS or GSR

B16 - don't think the sir has auto, but i think it can be connected to an auto tranny?

H22 is wicked nice with good power and torque, why not just get the auto tranny from the H22 or H23 engine?

Dr.K 14-Apr-2005 02:15 PM

But the rest of us are asking that all important question....why????????????????

imported_momoracing82 14-Apr-2005 02:19 PM

well i've asked that too :p. my parents can't drive stick >.< and they aren't really willing to, which pisses me off sometimes and i just need a little more power with a newer engine because this one is kinda dying. i was lookign for something that can be swapped fairly cheap, under 3000 altogether would be ncie and a h22 /w auto tranny seems pretty reasonably priced. i was just wondering if anyone knows a place that can do a swap with a better engine than my d16 for under 3000 altogether.

imported_masalma 14-Apr-2005 02:35 PM

you can probably find an auto b16 off an sir from japan.
but you gotta do a lot of searchin

SiR_88crx 14-Apr-2005 03:46 PM

damn your gonna have fun finding one

imported_momoracing82 14-Apr-2005 04:41 PM

lol i thought so -_-... i didn't hear about them until was searching my ass off and even then its really rare i heard.

Younes Si 14-Apr-2005 04:44 PM

how is your engine dieing? it's only 5 years old right :shrugs:

imported_t_dot_SiR 14-Apr-2005 07:28 PM

haha... you sure your engine is dying? or it needs some tune-up?

Dr.K 15-Apr-2005 06:21 PM

Forget about the swap. Sometime's some basic maintenence can do wonder's......Your car is only 5 yr's old!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have a 91 with 240,000km's on it and it run's mint. If you dont' know or haven't maintaned it recently you should get a shop to look at it.
And if the engine seems like its failing maybe you should take better care of it. ie. Let it warm up on cold day's and DON'T GUN IT WHEN ITS COLD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!that s really bad for your motor. Routinely check all fluid's and don't drive the piss out of it all the time. Not saying you do but some people are very hard on there car's. And just be thankfull you dont' have a VW. If something is wrong with it it won't cost a fortune.

Younes Si 15-Apr-2005 08:46 PM

unless you redline your car 7 times a day, since they day you bought it, it shouldn't be dieing....most of us have cars a lot older then yours and engines in very good condition...

i just want more power, that's why i'm swapping

imported_momoracing82 16-Apr-2005 02:32 AM

well the engine isn't dying i suppose but the power is garbage, its not wut i was used to. i compression tested it today and its compression is at the level that its supposed to be. i guess i just want a h22 with auto tranny for the power.

imported_ryanhook 16-Apr-2005 09:19 AM

If the car's only 5 years old, and the only thing you're unhappy about is the lack of power, then why bother going through all the trouble of swapping in an engine?

Why don't you just sell your Civic and buy a Prelude. It'll be easier to insure, and probably would end up costing less in the long run.

Your other option: buy a 98-02 Accord coupe and swap in the H22. That's a very common swap and probably would be easier than trying to cram the motor into a Civic and upsetting the great handling characteristics of the car.

imported_climax 16-Apr-2005 10:25 AM

prelude is eaiser to insure?????
isnt a prelude a sports car?

punkindrublic 16-Apr-2005 12:09 PM

my 88 civic sedan is insured as a sports car somehow, its a couple bucks less a month them my old 93 Si hatch

Dr.K 16-Apr-2005 12:09 PM

Parent's can't drive stick?....Hmmm...Something's not right here. Im guessing its there car. In that case why pay $4000 and swap a motor into mommy and daddy's ride. Your messing around with someone else's daily driver:tsk: Buy your own car. Get an EF. There cheap and nice and Light. And then you can get a 5spd and not waste your time with some Automatic H22. I dont' care how much power it has its still an Auto civic and it won't be very fun to drive. Swap's in EF's are dirt cheap. And You can probably pick up an EF with high Km's for very cheap.

imported_Zyepher 16-Apr-2005 12:30 PM

A honda thats automatic has no balls...d16y8's with i/h/e will give it you..End of discussion

imported_BoOsTd 16-Apr-2005 12:41 PM

I read about this in the papers allot, boy supes up mommys car and drives it into a pole street raceing killing the 5 passengers on board

Ask your mom first if she needs 200 hp in a civic with crazy oversteer... I gurentee she will not like the driving charecteristics of her h22 civic

Do a tuneup or if your really insistant, replace the engine with a y8 or b16

scarlemthug 16-Apr-2005 02:48 PM

I dont think it would be possible to swap the h22 with an auto tranny because the tranny has tiptronic and all that crap.

B20 with auto tranny :)

imported_kIeRaN 16-Apr-2005 04:47 PM

definitely not worth it IMO
