H22 engine

How much should I be looking at spending on a H22 block? This is the block only....no head, no intake/exhaust....just a complete bottom end.

Any ideas?

if you can find one, 'bout $400 for a junk block, or $700-800 for a decent block prolly.

i hate h22's with a passion, two of my good friends own 97+ preludes and both have had the same problem, well its kidna there fault but still, both of them used to **** a lil aftwer redline when they would race and both cars had the check engine light come on...the h22 is not a rev happy motor at all and built pretty **** compared to say a b16 or b18c.....what happend wa sin both cases they warped (forgot what u call thme, i sjut woke up) and did damage to there head and one guy also blew his o2 sencor....i dunno what it is with these engines but alot of mechanics have told me to stayaway from them

I agree...my buddies h series has been nothing but problems...giver too hard and the check engine light comes on...02 sensors go fast too, and they cost almost 450$ per sensor.. I think his valves are pooched too

you can burn your valves or bend the valves in any motor... it's not Hondas fault that your friends drive like complete idiots

sustain the beating on your d15 and see what happens, or just ask some of the guys who have blown a few motors in their history.

yeah...the main problem that Im worried about running into is the check engine light....im pretty sure that all that is is the crank position sensor...but the bent valves do suck though...Ill try and keep it sane...

if the cps is giving a check light, it's due to a misfire usually

no cps reading, some cars won't even start - I'm not sure about the 'lude.

huh? your post makes no sense at all...

ask 1nicesi what happens to abused D16s, ask Gunmetal_Si what happens when you abuse a D16, I could go on with a list of guys with blown D-series too... but a D-series is a lot lighter reciprocating assembly, and as such will not fail as hardcore as a H22. H22 is an entirely different beast, and must be treated as such... it's not made to rev very high, that's why they have the torque, so you don't have to rev them.

I love my D15a as well, Its takin a beating but the only probs so far is an engine mount on the drive side starting making weird noises, rattling almost and lookin all cracked, so I replaced it, no problem. Its a slow motor though, atleast compared to my Protege5 which is a slow car as well..
