H22 eg swap

H22 eg swap
I have seen alot of threads on here and noticed how everyone on here says that putting a H22 into a civic kills all handling. I find this confusing as putting 17 inch rims on your car puts weight on the outside where it is magnified and a 7 pound increase is the equivalant to roughly a 100 pounds inside the wheels. So how if you add 1.75 pounds to each corner by installing larger rims or even breaks you have now brought your cars weight characteristics to an equivalant of having a h22 swapped in into it also, if the handling on the car goes to **** with the 65 pound increase from a b18 then how do you drive your car with your buddy in the passenger seat who unless is a anorexic midget weighs atleast 150 pounds. Just some food for thought.

firstly the reason why people say the h22 ruins the handling is because adding more weight to an already front heavy car will only increase understeer.
secondly when u add weight to any part of the wheels u are adding to rolling weight, and hence a few pounds onto each wheel and it will feel like u have an extra 100 pounds or so weight

get your fat buddy to sit in the engine bay and go to an auto X course...h22 isnt' for auto X or track racing..but for a dail driver with some decent suspension isnt' that bad...I mean msot peopel arent' pro drivers...and most jsut want it to be bad *** in a straight...either way it sits weird in teh engine bay which also adds to the odd handling....

The rim weight theory was introduced to me by one of my fathers friends who desgins cart/irl cars and was offered a job by Minardi racing to design there formula one cars so i believe him. I am interested to hear what you have to say as i am in the process of building a circuit/street car and am tryying to decide on a engine suspension combination, also shifting the battery weight to the rear, and using a carbon fibre hood will almost offset the gained weight. Now what about when you go turbo b18 what about all the weight gained from the turbo, intercooler, intercooler piping, oil cooler, and such. I can understand the size isue but its the weight isue that i dont buy. Not disagreeing with anyone i just wanna get the most information i can get before i commit 10 000 to building a drivetrain and suspension setup.
