Best...Koni Yellow. Realistic, donno. Illumina's are not made for 01+, if AGX are then they could work with it well. I say realistic cause Yellows are damn expensive and if i remember right, the 01+ requires some modding to get the shock to work as if must go inside the strut assembly or something like that. so it was more money for labour. I think many people would just recommend a coil-over, but i really don't know much about 01+ so i could easily be wrong. I posted on clubel about this, let me see if i can find the link stating what had to be done to get yellows/etc into 01+

Because you have a 7thgen (01-05) Civic like me, your options are few. Koni Yellow, Tokico HP and Tokico D Spec. I think KYB makes struts too, but I'm not 100% sure.

The Yellows are adjustable and are inserts and you re-use your stock front strut housings, so they are not direct bolt-ons. The HP bolt right on, but they won't handle too low of a drop and are more of a daily driver type strut. The D spec are similar the the Yellow.

What do you plan on doing with your car? Daily driver, Auto X, etc.

Search around the board becuase suspension questions like yours get asked daily.

^^all depends on how much loot you got.
if you looking for a 1000 dollar budget you wont get anything better then omni power unless you go used and its probably beat to ****.

for the 7thgen they make: (i might be forgetting some also)

kyb gr2

tokico hp

kyb agx
tokico d-spec
koni yellow

with that small of a drop (1.5" ?) tokico HPs will be fine, although agx dspec and yellow would be better, not really a need if all your looknig for is a simple drop

i currently have a set of kyb agx that i am going ot list for sale pm me if interested

^^If you run lowered springs and stock struts, you will kill yourself. The roughest ride ever, and the noise will scare you. I did that until I got my koni reds.

on stock struts you should go with tein s tech or eibach pro kit

s tech were designed to work with stock struts, and pro kit is a very small drop, so they should be fine.

the ride wont be rough as hell, itll be rather bouncy and wont handle the best.

the stock struts should last you about a year or more off a mild drop, but id strongly suggest you upgrade your shocks aswell

On my 03 I have H&R Sport springs. They have been on the car for over a year with the stock struts and the struts are just starting to show signs of wear. THe Sports for the newer Civics isn''t super low, so your stock struts should last at least a year. I'm shopping for replacements though. Tokico HP probably.

i was thinking the same thing.....new car, new struts, might as well get your $ worth and kill em, but then again hdave makes a good point just do it all at once and save yourself the hassles...

just picked up a used set of h&r sport springs, but im still unsure if i want to upgrade the struts now or wait.
