H&R sports w/ stock struts

Just wondering how the ride quality will be..
I picked up a set of H&R sports a little while ago and really wanna get them installed.. but I just wanna find out if my stock shocks will blow very quickly.

I'm saving up for either illumina's or agx's.. but gotta pay for tuition and rent at the end of the month =(

I've got 95K so far on my ride..
u guys recommend waiting till i can afford some shocks? or u think i'll be ok to ride on these springs alone for a while?

btw it's for daily driving conditions right now.. no aggressive driving for me..

thanks for yer input

Sounds like you are on a budget..

Do it right once...

I would wait... You'll be happy you did.

imported_KuruptSI 13-Apr-2004 07:55 PM

damn
i was hoping to hear some "sure, u'll be fine for a while"
lol

Someone will say that... You can probably get away with it for a bit but you may also run into problems which won't be worth the hassle. Plus the ride quality wouldn't be the greatest.

sure you'll be fine for a while

then when your stock shocks blow you'll regret not doing it right the first time

I'd say that but I'm afraid of the liability lawsuits so I'll just say if your going to drop it get better shocks.

ive been on my sports for more than a year now on stock shocks..

ride is good, can't complain

my shocks had 200,000 km on them and are still ok

I had to replace my rears because i damaged the shock rod installing them but my fronts are originals

thanks matt
i would rather wait till i can afford some shocks.. but that could mean i'd have to wait till the end of summer when i start working again..
so that would suck to have these springs sitting here in my room collecting dust.. =P

I had shocks collect dust for a year in my room before installing them...:p

Just install em properly and you should be fine if you dont hit huge potholes, im not gonna be held liable if they blow though:P.

imported_KuruptSI 13-Apr-2004 08:47 PM

you're a very patient man jason.. hah
i'm not quite as patient =)

imported_KuruptSI 13-Apr-2004 08:49 PM

hah thanks chris

Ive had stockers on under a 1.8in drop and they lasted 3 summers of about 8months or 9,000kms. One rear blew last week.

Sport spring will be ok on stock shocks... but you should eventually go with some performance shocks. Race springs are another story, you will definitely need some good shocks, ex. Koni Sports

DumbasSi 14-Apr-2004 08:50 AM

I put almost 70,000 km's on my stock shocks and H&R Sports, and my stock shocks still ride fine. There are lots of variables that can contribute to ruining your stocks shocks. Rough roads, weight in the car, drop, etc. Springs aren't that hard to put on and take off again, so it's not really time consuming. I'd go for it till you have the cash for good shocks.

You'll be fine. I just installed sports on my stock shocks last night and I didn't loose any sleep. So what, even if they stock shocks blow...your plans are to replace them anyway cause they ain't worth anything. At least you get some fun out of them and your car while you save.

Also, I had RSR Race springs on stock shocks on my other civic for over 3 years and they were fine...and that thing was dumped.
