h&r sport springs: diff between hatch & sir springs?

this question started out in the FS section, but i thought i'd also post it here so it gets noticed...

------

I just checked http://www.hrsprings.com, went thru their application guide and looked up the springs for a 98 hatch and a 00 sir. This is what it said:

1998 Hatch: Sport Spring 2/4 door, Typ MA 1.75 1.5 51865 $ 269.00 Kit
2000 Si (US): Sport Spring 2/4 door, Typ MA 1.75 1.5 51865-2 $ 269.00 Kit

The part #s are different (the "-2" in the sir's part #).

Does anyone know if there are any differences between these springs? i.e. are they interchangeable between these cars?

Thanks...

Physically the springs are the same so they will fit. Most Civics and Integra springs are interchangeable.

The difference in the springs you mentioned, SIR vs. Hatch is that the SIR springs are a bit stiffer because the SIR is heavier and meant for a better handling car.

I had regular H&R Sports on my 98 SI and now I have the SIR ones. The drop and the handling are the same.

thanks DumbasSi.

so in your case, both springs felt the same. would i experience the same thing though? because my car is an sir. i.e. is the sir heavier than the si?

ultimately the question is this:

can i put the civic hatch springs on my sir and not feel a difference between those and the h&r sport springs that were designed for my car (the -2's)?

I really doubt you would feel any difference. I have Koni struts now so I can't really say how the H&R SIR springs feel compared to my old regular H&R with stock struts. You could email H&R and ask them what the difference is, but I can't imagine that they are that much stiffer.

I took my Sports off for the winter because I was afraid it would be too low (it wasn't). I bought the second set used from a guy that had the SIR specific springs.
