guess whos car just died?

Well I was down the street from my gf's house when my car just decided to totally turn off out of nowhere. I rolled into a pizza pizza parking lot. Now, when I try to turn it over...it makes some ****ed up sound. Like it's trying to turn over, but it doesn't do the normal turning over sound. It's almost like the starter isn't even kicking in. I'm gonna go to it in a bit and see if I still have a timing belt.

you should just sell it and buy another... you have the worst luck with that car

I don't have time to sell the car and look for another one...I need to drive to work everyday...I'm gonna find a d16z6 or something to last me the winter then hopefully have enough saved for an EK or something.

Ok, it looks like my coolant leak was from the water pump so I'm thinking it was the timing belt that blew today. Now the question is, what are the chances that I bent my valves, etc, because I heard that's possible when the timing belt goes?

I would say your changes are very high that you bent a few valves. Timing chain snapped on my Bimmer....sad day, for me and my wallet. Best of luck...if you need help pulling the engine let me know.

Well, I told my gf's dad to get his mechanic over there tomorrow to make sure it wasn't something stupid that's easy to fix. If it's anything major I'll be looking for a d16z6 or dohc zc or something to last me til spring.

just pull the t-belt cover and take a look... if the engine cranking sound is "hollow" it prolly was the timing belt. As for bent valves, it really depends on exactly where the engine was in it's rotation when the belt snapped.

If you weren't going very fast and it broke, should be ok..

I've had like 3 cars break timing belts on me on the highway at like 120.. I just let the car coast to a stop and they were always fine.. Well one was kinda messed, had no more top end, but still drove pretty good up to 140.. lol

Only way to really find out is to rip apart the motor, look at the head.. or just put on a new belt, get the timing right and try it...

my bud in his 89 accord was doing like 160 on the 401, timing belt broke and valves ripped thru his valve cover..
