gsr turbo HATCH?!?

jus wondering....... firstly

if i were to plan to get a EG VX hatch with a "full gsr block swapped@ a shop with tranny LSD - t3/t4 hybrid@8psi turbo" running around 240whp/high 12s with some upgraded tires on stock steelies, clutch, brakes, suspension.... can it ALL be done for under/around 10k? (including $2k $2500 EG shell.)

2ndly, how do you modded guys with bolt ons, espeically F/I people with boost gauges sticking out, deal with cops when confronted? (whether they wanna book u for racing or being modded, and calling your insurance company?)

well if you can find a 2K EG shell, the gsr swap will cost around $4000-$5000 (if not more) and a turbo kit will cost around $2500-4000 (depending on if you buy new or used). So thats $10K right there not including a clutch, tires, brakes, suspension, which i would highly recommend upgrading if you plan on boostin a gsr (good choice by the way).
If you really wanna boost and swap and only have a budget of $10K i would go with an b18b (LS) b/c its much cheaper than a gsr and will help keep you within your budget.

i always thought it was around 3500 since 4-5 is around h22a and b18c5 swap cost?

anyways, ive heard of the ls/vtec swaps, but i believe they have reliblity problems and need quite a few upgrades, especially the rods?

Search/Research you will find your answer.

What you want to do will cost you more than $10,000. And zeeman said the $2500-4000$, but if you build a custom turbo kit (buy it piece by piece) You can get it installed and tuned for around $2000 if you find the right prices/parts.

well a gsr swap from teknotik is $3800 and another $750 for the mounts, axles, linkages (which you need) and LSD which you want. So thats $4550 before tax. And thats without install. Then I would HIGHLY recommend changing the timing belt and water pump and clutch while its out, so thats another $500 at least.
$5000 for a swap is what it costs man, to do it right. Don't skimp on the timing belt, water pump and clutch, b/c you will have to pay twice as much to get that done while the engine is in the car.
And i am sure if he's got a budget of $10K he's not looking for a turd mobile to dump a bunch of money into. But yes an EG in decent shape can be had for $2000-3000.
But honestly, take it one step at a time. Buy the car and fix whatever it needs before you dump a bunch of money into making it go fast, take it from me, once you start spending money on going fast you won't want to stop. Hell, who knows, you may spend $2500 on the car and another $1500 fixing it up. Thats $4000 of your budget right there. Then do the swap but do it right, thats another (realistically) $5000+ right there.
Projects take time, especially doing it right. It also takes time to acquire funds. Hell its taken me 3 years to build my car to how it is. And i've saved a lot doing a lot of the work myself.

If you do everything yourself, ya parts alone might be around there, I guess (some new, some used parts).

Labour included, I doubt it. Things add up quick when it comes to parts.

The first part of your question (the gsr turbo) has already been answered. But to answer your 2nd question.. as long as your legal the cops won't do anything. Having boost gaugues and a turbo kit is perfectly legal, just make sure you have a high-flow cat, don't go straight pipe (although you'll make much more power). Keep it legal and the cops can't do anything bud.

$10k may do it, but i'd figure $13-$15 for realistic finished estimate. suspension can be had for $800-$1000, good tires for another $600-800, figure $7000 for engine, turbo and clutch and of course the shell at $2000.

i'd also try to invest in a racing drivers seat too and a damn good alarm which will be another $600 atleast with back-up siren and 110db interior siren or even boomerang theft device....something good since if this finished project gets jacked, insurance won't give you **** since they won't cover the mods...so a 92-95 civic hatch stock is worth what...thats what you'll get. see why i say damn good alarm.

$13 should be a realistic estimate to do it properly. so for $3500-$4000 for turbo with tuning, that only leaves $3000 for engine so B18B non-vtec, who the hell needs VTEC....your boosting it anyways so if turbo hits boost at reasonable streetable rpm level VTEC would be useless anyways plus B18B has lower compression too.

basically, just research

B18B installed with LSD tranny, mounts, etc = $$$$$
turbo/intercooler you want = $$$$
tuning for that turbo = $$$$ (call a few shops, ask rates)
EG shell = $$$$
repairs that shell may need = $$$$
susp you want = $$$$
brakes = $$$$
alarm = $$$$

then you'll see your total. instead of asking on here where they does not seem to be many turbo'd civics, i'd look for a boosted honda site such as turbod16 (for D16Y's) that may help with your turbo and fuel management questions.

would be a wicked fast nice ride though that would stomp a S2000, etc for $10-$15K

oh, for tires i'd recommend Hankook R-S2 Z212 or Falken Azeni's, something along those lines, max performance summer...cause with that power, your gonna need good rubber too.

I doubt you'll find a decent hatch with a b18c1 in it for 5000$. If you boost a gsr you'll make some serious numbers you will need to upgrade your brakes/suspension also. I don't think it can be done with $10,000 IMO.
