GSR torque peak rpm increase?

I am getting a gsr swap done as we speak and I am getting the car back on thursday. I like how the redline is 8200 rpm, but the max power is at 7600 and the peak torque is at 6200... How could I raise it so it makes peak torque a little higher say like 7200-7500 rpm and redline around 8500-9000?

it will have an obd1 conversion done witha chippable ecu as well.

put some cams in .

why would you want peak torque higher thereby losing power down low? you want torque as early as possible so you dont have to rev the $*&^ out of your engine to make the car go somwhere

my thoughts exactly.....who the hell wants torque that high???

well, i look at the type r and its performance oriented and quick and it has numbers like that... i just naturally assume that matching that would give me similar performance numbers.

you dont need tq that high.. tq gets the car moving, hp keeps it going.

if you wanna rev any higher than 8200rpms upgraded valve springs and retainers are a MUST to avoid valve float common with the stock valve train. And in order to make power higher than 7600rpms you need more aggressive cams and maybe a little more compression.

imported_t_dot_SiR 29-Mar-2006 12:36 AM

haha you don't need torque uptop, you need hp... low end torque plus good mid-high range hp will be nice

i'm already planning on some OP valvetrain and BC3 cams with some p30 pistons... proper tune, i can rev that over 9000 i'm expecting....

so, what would i be looking at then? i am going to have a 2001 stock gsr motor in tomorrow (thursday) and i haven't even driven it yet... maybe i should wait cause i might be happy with the power in my ek hatch... i think it should go pretty decent...

so, upgraded springs and valve retainers (like the titanium ones or something?) and a pair of agressive camshaft and what would do for the compression so I can increase it a little?

How reliable would my motor be after these upgrades... any recomended camshafts?

TURBOOO

Just Turbo charge it man!! drop 5 g's into it and have fun.. also get a stage 4 clutch so u wont go though clutchs like crazy... GSR's love Turbo's ...

zeeman 29-Mar-2006 11:17 AM

well you can mill the head a bit to raise compression, get dual valve springs and titanium retainers and a set of whatever cams you like, Rocket/Buddy Club/Skunk2/Crower/Endyn are all good cams. I would concentrate on getting all of the bolt ons before changing the internals.

imported_t_dot_SiR 29-Mar-2006 06:43 PM

yeah and tuning is important after you do all the internals...
its a long way to go... prep yourself with some good bolt ons first

like some good 4-2-1 SS header with 2.5" collector... then find a good exhaust shop to custom a decent exhaust 2.5" piping all the way back with resonator, hiflow cat, and a magnaflow stock looking exhaust with a bigger outlet would be quite nice/quiet/decent! just get some generic CAI with a good k&n filter, you're all set for bolt ons........ but all thoes can cost you another grand-ish...

focus on the internals later... because you might as well do them well all at once... i'm planning to save up 3-4 grand and gather parts along my way and have everything done in june-july...

i already got pricing on OP valvetrain, BC cams, p30 pistons, and about to contact gord bush for engine work =)
then locate the best tuner in your area, since you got your engine from teknotik, go back to them, i heard good things about eric on tuning... and he's where i'm going for tuning later =)
