Gsr

recently i have been thinking about a GSR swap into my 98 sedan,:bling: i dont think i am actually going to do the install until next year but ia m thinking about buying the block now and slowly building it up with some very strong parts, so that in the future i can turbo or super charge it, maybe even both. What do you guys think it would cost me for the block and the parts necessary for the buildup?

You have to ask yourself.. how fast do you want to be? and how dedicated will you be in tuning and maintaining this thing after it's built?

What Jugglez said...:shooter: :p :D

i want it to be fast enough to beat a 5.0 mustang or a camaro z28 and make it feel like $#@&. after it is built i will take care of it and maintain it, but i want everything to be street legal.

*chuckles* you must be kinda new at all this swap and buildup stuff eh?

No problem, we were all there once too...

Alright, for just a JDM GSR, Tranny and ECU (installed) you are probably looking at around $6000.00...

Then ontop of that you are gonna pay at least another $5000 for a decent build on the bottom end of the motor...

Then on top of that you are gonna wanna spend another $5000-$6000 for your turbo kit.

As you can see, go-fast-goodies certainly add up in price..

You might be able to shave a grand or two of some of these prices depending on what shops you goto but if you want it done mucho right you gonna pay mucho dollars.

Regards,
OK

see but the thing is i wanna buy the block and build it up myself and then have it installed. the turbo and supercharger will be later

Jugglez 09-Jul-2002 11:19 AM

Ditch the twin charging idea. You'll spend more money on tuning time getting it to work properly then you will spend on all the turbo and sc parts combined.

And when you say "i wanna buy the block and build it up myself and then have it installed"... i assume you know you're gonna need alot more than just the GSR block?

GrEeNcIvIc 14-Jul-2002 11:01 PM

i know i am going to need much more than just the block, but i am thinking about just buying the block and then when i get the money to buy another part for the engine i can buy it, remember i dont have to drop the engine in until next year. what would you recomend for excessive power in order for me to beat a camaro or mustang in a race on the gsr engine?
