Grinding noise while braking..
 

This has been happening for a while now but I didn't think much of it... but now it's beginning to be a real problem...

Whenever I brake, there's some grinding noise coming from around the wheels... I don't brake heavily and the noise is still there...

Anyone know what seems to be the problem? or are my rotors messed.

is it from the front? could be as easy as a rock stuck in the pad, whick would cause a grinding noise as well as scoring the rotor.
just a thought, could even be pads worn funny

It's been doing this for a long time... maybe half a year or so... but now the steering wheel is starting to shake like a mofo when braking....

Yep it's from the front, I got my brake pads changed about a month ago so it couldn't be the pads I don't think.

then its probably scored rotors. i had the same problem and after i replaced them everything was good!

A mechanic told me b4 the rotors were messed

sorry to say, but most probably....brake pads are worn out, and are eating your rotor(s)/disc(s)...gonna cost u around 200 (canadian Tire) to get those rotor(s)/disc(s) machined!

might as well upgrade, get aftermarket slotted, cross drilled

check it out for a free brake inspection, they do them everywhere!

if the rotor is messed up.... it would enevenly wear out your pad...and thus, reducing its life!!

try getting your rotors sanded

i would recommend new rotors or take old ones off and to a machine shop to have them resurfaced. Uneven rotor wear can cause a heavy shake on the car because the brake pads are not rubbing on a flat surface.

bent rotors were my first bet, I knew it couldn't be the brake pads... I just got them changed and the grinding and rattling has been going on for a long time...

I'll be getting new rotors soon... can't stand the rattling and grinding...

Any suggestions?

I got KVR cross drille rotors from Performance Improvemnts about 2 months ago (50/rotor + coating $20/rotor) and I love them. They were on sale thoguht but I tink reg price on the rotors were only 10-20 more. Definite difference in braking. You'll need to get carbon pads tho but I got KVR pads for like 45.....

Brembo anodized blanks....

No cross drilled, No slotted, just blank...

Change the pads while your there...

I used to have that problem too, tmak. it's because the rust forming on the edge (not the surface) of the rotors is touching the caliper. it happens after you've driven the car for a while, right? (so after the rotor's expanded because of heat buildup)

any shop can chisel off the rust for you easily. but why not take this opportunity to get new pads and rotors, haha. :D the brembo pad/rotor combos are pretty good.

how much do the rotors/pads go for, anyone give me a price range?

brembo's the way to go.. we just changed my buddie's 95 Si with cross-drilled rotors and the brembo pads.. stuff costs around 250ish i think.. we put it in ourselfs.. super easy once u know what u're doing and have the right tools...

I got powerstops sloted rotors @ Rev for a good deal....
but u'll have to go there to check out the price I don't think they'll be too expensive....
and IMO cross drilled rotors are not very good in the rain....

I have the Brembo cross drilled as well...

They do suffer in the rain slightly...

Take the opportunity to change your brake lines too..

Theres no sense in getting different rotors other than Stock OEM unless you're looking to change your Calipers as well.

If you're already looking to spend $200+ on rotors

Why not spend $300 and do a big brake swap from an SiR or GSR?
