start the car, grinding noise from tranny, step on clutch, noise goes away.

clutch was replaced not too long ago. about two months.
this is on a stock 90 dx hatch. the car hasnt really seen alot of roads. its been inside the garage for a while.

thanks

throughout bearing/release bearing... I forget w hich one.

I guess it wasnt replaced when the clutch was done...

imported_gatherer 28-Aug-2003 10:44 AM

yeah sounds like the throw out bearing ... which should be replaced when the clutch is...

ok thanks a lot guys, its the same thing im thinking about.
my buddy's getting worried that it could be the tranny itself.
how can we confirm that its the throw out or release bearing
before bringing it to the pros?

gatherer: ur gonna refer me to buddah. thanks hehe :)

input shaft bearing would be my guess..

the throw-out is disengaged up until you step on the pedal..
when you press the pedal it makes contact with the pressure plate and then spins up..
