Got my 5Zigen muffler install today..

When I hooked with some of you guys on Sat night, I ended up buying a slightly used 5Zigen muffler from Quick_CX.. The muffler looks awesome and it pretty big so it should be nice and loud and have some power..

So I called minute muffler today and they said that it cost minimum $65 to get it on ($65 for an hours of work).. I went there, they jacked up the car, took a loook at it and quoted me $200 for an install.. They said that they need to bend another pipe attach it to my stock bolt-on part near the resonator there and then weld that piece onto the muffler.. they used the existing brackers on the muffler.. Even though I thought it was expensive, I went with it anyways.. It took them about 45 minutes to put the muffler on.. They used 1" 7/8 piping.. they said that bigger piping to the muffler would make me lose back pressure and the pipe I needed had to fit into the muffler.. ok.. After they put it on, I was surprised it didn't sound loud at all, even the mechanic said that its pretty quiet.. I was surprised because i read that 5Zigen mufflers are loud and its a BIG muffler so it should be loud!! I drove around with it for about half an hour, I can feel it a little but I can hear my engine more than the muffler. I got a buddy of mine to look at it and he said that there's an exhaust leak where they bolted on the pipe .. so I'm going back at 3:30 to get them to look at that.. arghh..

I have a 5zigen exhaust, it's very mellow during normal driving. It gets louder at WOT...but even then it's a nice deep loud not buzzing like others.

If don't expect to hear it all the time...you should hear a mellow humming while you drive I guess, nothing crazy.

i went back, and they definetely identified it as a leak.. it took him about 40 minutes to get it fixed.. it didn't really help the sound.. the muffler is really quiet.. i think the reason why its quiet is because my lack of an intake and me having a resonator

im not an expert but the reason why its so quite is cause your piping is so small and the resonator isnt helipn much, i have 2.5 piping and no resonator and its loud *** hell.

Having no resonator is legal.

A resonator makes the hole a lot smaller.. probably only 1.5" thru it.

You need to remove the resonator to make a sound otherwise it'll sound JUST louder than your stock muffler... the resonator is designed to remove sound.. not increase sound.

I removed my resonator when I put my exhaust on.

The 5-zigen fireball catback I had on my old Civic was pretty quiet as well, not overly loud at all.

As for removing the resonator, if you do it you will get that lovely farting bee sound from your exhaust, don't do it.

Just my 2 cents.

I removed my resonator and I have a deep sound.. not a farting sound.
