Got the CV joint knock.

Hi,

Well it's time to replace my driver side cv joint. It's only a year old, but I guess I didn't notice that the boot got torn. crap

I decided I'm just going to pull one from the yard for now. I know I should buy a new/rebuilt unit, but I'm a bit in limbo on replacing/fixing up (ie. B16, bodywork, etc) my car.

My question is:

Would a CV joint from a 88/89 (DX) Civic with 5spd, fit in a 90 Civic 5spd (DX). I know there were few changes from the 88/89 to 90/91 model. I just not sure if axles were one of them.

is there warrenty on that joint? a boot shouldnt rip, they get worn and dryed out, then the seames give way, but that takes over 5 years for that to happen. Makes me wonder if its defective.

Hi,

There might be a warranty? I'm not to sure. My tech installed it along with my sohc ZC last winter. Now I moved far away (London to CFB Borden/Barrie) it's not really worth a 3hr trip one way to see about warranty work.

I just want to pull one from a yard ($25) just for now because I'm up in the air in what I'm going to do with my civic.

Thanks for the info in regarding for it fitting. I just didn't want to pull an 89 CV joint, and find out that it didn't fit.
