Good Shop for Honda Scene
#2
For the best prices and service I would suggest that you head into hte city. I'm sure there are many good mechs in that area but hte scene in TO is a lot more competitive... pricing wise. Plus, if you then add teh discount that our affilaite give us (paid members) you are probably looking at good savings compared to the shops in your end... it would easily cover the time and money to get out here.
Just my thoughts... I used to live in Oakville and used to drive to Markham to get stuff...the shop I was dealing with made it worth my time.

Hey Meanie, I live in Burlington and commute to Toronto to have my work done..
I have never dealt with ANY of the shops around here and I have never found one that changed my mind locally.
What kinda Civic you drive?
I saw a lowered blue 92-95 hatche last night in Burlington on Mainway and Guelph with a WW kit on the front and some silver lookin rims as I scooted past. Was being driven by some young kid (19-20) with a hat on all slouched down in the gangstah lean.
Regards,
OK

Frankie Goes to Hamilton
I drive a Electron Blue 2000 Civic Si. Hence the name BlueMeanie.
Well not all that mean yet. I got the standard 127 hp engine, with dreams of bigger and better things. I went to look at a 94 GS-R engine and Y80 tranny on the weekend. The guy was way up near Owen Sound. He wanted $4000.00 for engine/tranny no ecu, wiring harness etc. I offered $3000.00 but he said that the lowest he would go was $3500.00. The thing that made me nervous about the engine, was that it hasn't been running since 1998. What do you think? Good price? I've been toying with the idea of doing a frankie conversion with a B20b block and gsr head.
Anybody out there have any good info on this conversion?
Any shops doing this conversion?

there is a member with us who's doing that at this moment(the b20tec), and like the rest of the guys, make a trip to Toronto, it'll be worth your while Obviously the best thing to do though is try to go to the same shop over and over again, just to hook up with the shop HTH

Nawww, I'm from Burlington through and through but I'm a St.Catharines boy deep down.
Lived here 9 years, coming up on 10 now (on and offi).
Anyways, I make the trek into Toronto whenever my car needs work or I'm bored and want to hang out. Sometimes I'll drive down to Altech just to sit and shoot the breeze and work on pipe dreams etc.
Other times I drive down there to have them work on my car, sit around, have a coffee and a smoke or three while they work on it and then drive back.
As for the same shop bit someone suggested. I agree, its best to find a shop that you like and then go back to them repeatedly..
Why? Numerous reasons.
A) you build a relationship with the shop and end up spending a large bit of coin there. Perhaps they will cut you a deal and reduce labor or product costs a tad. Always good to save money.
B) The mechanics at that garage eventually come to know your car inside and out and can tell you offhand (or have records) of every part that has gone into your car.
C) When it comes down to racing other shop made cars, you can claim shop pride
Anyways, the GSR motor that hasn't been run since 98? I would tell him to fire it up and if it runs properly than give him his 3500.00 but in all honesty, I would expect that it would need a rebuild in the very least.
