getting broken screws out

getting broken screws out

i got all the parts i need for my smashed front end from corey_haymen for $80...only problem is that on one side of the hood the screws for the hinges just broke in half...how can i get them out? havent tried anything yet i still have to drive home.

get a drill and drill it out

or if there is enough of the bolt out of hte hole use vise grips and hopefully the bolt isn't seized

****...i think his bumper filler might be shorter in length then mine...but i thought all 4th gen hatch's were the same

what u do if its seized. my back plate has a broken scew and its seized in there???

doesn't the rear plate screw go into a plastic clip?? If it's seized, just soak it from both front and back (inside the trunk) with WD40 and try to get at it with vise-grips from the inside. Otherwise, just drill it.

shlammed - drilling ALWAYS works, but it's always the last resort. Just centerpunch it, and use a sharp new drill bit.

aren't those just for like threaded heads? dunno if they'd be able to grab enough on a seized screw.

Try that turn stuff. Even though it smells horrible, hopefully it will help lossen screws. Just keep drilling at it.. eventually it will come out.

if you center punched the top of the bolt... and couldn't drill then your drill isn't going fast enough or your bits are dull.... like bruno said drilling always works....

not sure of the specific bolt but you could use a oxy-acetylene cutting torch and blow the thing out.... see picture below
