gears will not go in easily.. help (92 civic si)
im having a problem with my civic, the engine has 40,000 km on it (jdm d15b) the tranny has 190,000 on it..
the gears will not slide in easily, they grind, or are hard to push in, this suddenly happened, the only problem ive had with the tranny is that the release bearing i believe is messed, because everytime first gear is engaged, the dash/car shakes a bit when the clutch is disengaged
the hydralic clutch system is functioning perfectly (pedal pressure is perfect)
i swapped the tranny oil when i did the engine about 7,000km ago
i was thinking either the shift linkage might be loose (does not feel like it, but im not sure)... some how the tranny oil was lost (??)... or the clutch, pressure plate assembly is gone
gimme some info what you guys might think it is
thanks

when u did the motor did u reuse the same clutch assembly and release bearing? if so its a good chance its the release bearing
when the release bearing is installed its under pressure and when you remove the tranny from the motor its relieved of the pressure it will never sit right again...which is why you always change the release bearing when doing a motor swap or anything like that...its a cheap investment to lessen the chance of future problems

did you check the cluth master/slave cylinders could be a possible leak in the master (more likely than the slave) if there is a leak then the clutch won't engage properly hence the gears grinding, get a flashlight and see if there is any fluid leaking where your pedal assy. is and check to see if you have fluid in your clutch resevoir, also pull the boot away from the clutch fork and see if there is fluid there, see if the slave is leaking.
good luck
