gear ratio

i am a little confused as to the tires size thing... if u go with a rim and tire that ends up being bigger than the oem size i was wondering if it actually throws off ur gear ratios or if it just throws off ur speedo?

Re: gear ratio

i think it just affects ur speedometer
gear ratios would only get affected if u actually change the gears

Ya it throw's off your gear ratio...Think about it....for every one rotation of the tire its covering more distance. If your within an inch or so your fine...

it doesnt throw off your gear ratios.. how do you propose it does that? putting on different tires somehow changes the number of teeth on your gears???

your speedo might be slightly off, but the physical gear ratios and final drive stay the same.
