fuel pump install

I am trying to install a walbro 255lph pump in my 95 coupe today. But it doesn't fit back into the mounting bracket. Do i have the wrong pump?

The supplied filter with the pump is quite different than the stock one. As you can see in the picture the stock pump's filter (which is on the left) has an orange peice that extends the filter beyond the L-shaped bracket that hold the pump in place, however the new pumps filter is not shaped like this.
Am i supposed to reuse the stock filter to make this work? Do i have the wrong pump?

well i just found out that i have the wrong install kit. I'm just glad i didn't have to drop the tank to do the install otherwise i'd be super pi$$ed. Guess its time to get the right install kit.
If anyone is buying a walbro 255lhp fuel pump MAKE SURE you get the right install kit. The install kit part number is 400-846

I installed a Holley pump for myself. The pump is very different in appearance, but it's surprising how well it fit. I did not need an install kit, in fact even the electrical plug'd right in

well the install kit is basically just the little bag of parts that comes with the pump (filter, retaining clip, rubber wahers). The pump itself is fine, plugs right in and everything. But i got the wrong install kit w/my pump. I received 400-847 but i needed 400-846.
Bbarbulo did you use a 255lph or 190lph?
Aren't holley's just a rebadged walbro that they charge way more for?
Did you find the new pump to be louder than the stock one?

You can reuse the bag, etc from the stock pump. That is what I did but my setup was in decent shape.

well the place i bought it from ordered me 400-846 and said they just give me that kit for the one i have.

So i just put the stock one back in sans back seat bottom. That little bolt holding the bottom cushion on is a royal PITA to get to when leaving the top portion of the seat on and just folding it down.
New pump kit should be here by tues or wed

mmmm....my car smells like gas

while you are in there you should consider a fuel pump hotwire... alot of buick guys do this and it would help on a honda as well i'm sure... basically hook up a relay to the fuel pump! with nice 10g wiring instead of the factory ****! yes aftermarket pumps generally are louder AND a hot wire kit will make it even more so.. but to get most out of a fuel pump always hotwire it!
