any premium 91 or higher is more than enough for a stock compression cammed b16

and 94 = 8 point booster that is a joke right there wtf are you runnign 13:1 on the street with not so huge cams..?

ps most octane boosters barely do anything

good tuning will do that.
I use 91 octane on my 11.5:1 CR b16.

you guys every put this into mind. say when u buy a b16 or b18 thats has been imported over here from japan, think about it in japan there lowest octane is what 101? 104? and down here we run nothing but 91 in them. Dont you think they would run much better in japan then over here.

^^I'd have to agree with that...

Usually use anything from 91 to 94....94 if i can.

Seem to get better fuel mileage on 94, at least thats what i've found.

The way they rate their gas is different than the was we do in north america.

Also the B16 here is not quite the same as the b16 there.

91 is fine, you don't have to go higher.

For B16 engines you should be using 91 Pctane unless you have done your engine internals and running at a higher compression ratio then i would run like 94 Octane.... I personally run 91 Octane from Sunoco....

ya the b16 there has like .2 of a point higher compression.
I agree, the stock ignition maps are conservative enough to run 91, even on modded engines. Like i said before i'm running 11.5:1 CR on my b16 and still use 91, with no detonation at all.
I see no need to run anything higher, unless you're running like 12:1 CR or higher, or you're boosted, or running n20 or jacked up your ignition timing. But this is just my opinion.

you could run 87 easily without detonation.

As stated in my 98 GSR Manual.

Use premium gasoline unleaded with a pump octane of 91 or higher. If you are unable to find premium unleaded gasoline, you may substitue to unleaded regular gasoline. THe engine will compensate for the lower octane, but you may notice a slight decrease in power as a result.

Use 87 and save your money.. Just don't bounce of the rev limiter all day long cuz then you may hurt the engine.

haha i was gonna say that

our octane rating is different here than japan...
plus you pump your gas based on tuning and on what compression you're running.....

you won't go wrong running premium... if you care so much, you can use 94.....

i see cars like G35, M3, run premium (91 or 92), they are running fine!

i've also seen caravans running octane 94, but engine keeps breaking down! hahaha

feed what its meant to feed!

Don't run 87 in your B16a2. Sure it will be ok, but it will be a dog. (trust me I used to own a 00 SiR)

Don't be a cheap *** and just run 91+ only.
