fuel cut off

1989 civic hatch dx

#1 anyone know which color wire to cut?
#2 if the fuse in the fuse box is 15a then a 15a rocker switch is good enough, yes?

Better to take away ground from the fuel pump that to take power...

shlammed 14-Aug-2003 03:54 PM

good idea...so im guessing that's the all black wire

bbarbulo 14-Aug-2003 03:54 PM

can't say for sure, you need a Haynes manual, they have wicked badass wiring diagrams in the back!

shlammed 14-Aug-2003 03:55 PM

yea ill borrow my buddies book again...now go read my paint job thread :)

bbarbulo 14-Aug-2003 03:57 PM

LOL, paint is hard to say bro... depends on condition of it, and how good a job you want. $1000-$3000 is a decent range, $1000 being shitty paint.

shlammed 14-Aug-2003 03:58 PM

damn that's too much

shlammed 14-Aug-2003 03:58 PM

not in general...i meant for my budget

shlammed 19-Aug-2003 01:03 PM

damnit...i have everything i need but i have no clue where to put the f*cking thing!

bbarbulo 19-Aug-2003 01:26 PM

You mean wiring or the switch... I've seen tons of creative places for the fuel cutoff... each more diff't than the other. That's up to you to get whacky...

punkindrublic 19-Aug-2003 02:19 PM

so the ground is the best place to cut power to the fuel pump??

bbarbulo 19-Aug-2003 02:22 PM

YES... you never wanna cause any spark in the fuel pump by cutting off +

You always wanna make sure you flip the switch before the key is in the ignition and on...

Ground is a good place to start, but there are tons of how-tos out there, read a few, see what ppl say.

punkindrublic 19-Aug-2003 02:26 PM

thats true a spark would not be a fun thing to encounter in the tank

shlammed 19-Aug-2003 04:09 PM

yes i meant the switch...im gonna make the switch on the ground wire and i got a mounting plate for it but i have no idea where to mount the mounting plate heh

bbarbulo 19-Aug-2003 04:12 PM

Ho yo yo, we can't tell you that! its not much of a safety feature if everyone on TCC knows where you stuck it :p

shlammed 19-Aug-2003 06:25 PM

i said gimme a few ideas...i didnt say id use em :P
