front end problem

hey guys lately iv noticed when i make a sharp turn like say a 3 point turn or whatever, that my front passenger wheel feels weird like almost as if it shifts, so today i check to make sure my lugs were tight and as normal they were so i gave the wheel s good shake and its nuts, the wheel has alot of play in it side to side but the lugs r tight and everything....it feels like the whole wheel and brake kinda shift.....what coulsd this b a bad ball joint that needs replacing?.....also is it safe to drive it like this till i can afford to have it fixed, it been like this for a good few weeks now

if you shake it side to side and it feels like there is play, prolly a tie rod end, if you shake it up and down, and it has play, it's the upper ball join (upper control arm)

yea rheres def play side to side...also my cars lowered with eibach springs and tokico shocks would that make a diff in wear?....so pretty much its a tie rod end, how much to replace and will it b ok driving it like that for a while till i can afford to fix it?

well depending on how bad the wear is on it, makes it driveable or not, i would charge you about 30$ to replace both, pretty easy. parts i'm unsure on of price, but they're prolly around 40-70$ each, i'm not really sure

and yes, when you modify suspension components it wears all front end suspension parts at a more accelorated pace. tires, ball joints, bushings, everything.

if the wheel goes up/down its prolly wheel bearing also

imported_gatherer 22-Sep-2003 07:03 AM

if the wheel goes up and down and side to side it's the wheel bearing you want to look at.

side to side tie rods and lower ball joint should be considered

up and down the upper ball joint.

get the issue fixed soon before you have a critical failure and lose control of the car.
