Frankenstein Swap

Looks like I can get my hands on an LS motor for dirt cheap, I was jus thinking about throwing it in ( I got a 93 bubble ) i heard i can do low 15's with this swap. But since the motor is allready out of the car im thinking of going LS/Vtec with it. Anybody running this setup, just wondering what my rev limit would be and if i can get my ecu re-flashed?

i wouldn't rev a stock LS bottom end much past 7500-8000rpms (if that) with a vtec head on it.
Chipping your ecu is a great idea, once your ecu is chipped you can run pretty much any engine (d-series, b-series, h-series or even f-series) with the proper program on the chip.

you could rev to 8500rpms if you do some rod bolts.

rod bolts = basically rebuilding the whole bottom end

What people don't realize is that to change out the rod bolts (properly) you need to pull the rods/pistons out (which automatically means new rings and rod bearings and if your doing the rod bearings you might as well do the main bearings) and have the big ends of the rods resized/honed after installing/torqueing the rod bolts, if not you take the chance the big end of the rod (where the rod bearing goes) getting distorted and not being completely round/true anymore.
So just installing rod bolts turns into a $1000 journey real fast, since your in there doing this you might as well do that....and that adds up quickly.
