if you do purchase an engine/tranny from an importer make sure to read through their warranty info very carefully.
T E K N O T I K 's warranty states that it MUST be installed by a professional (licensed mechanic), and it must have had the timing belt/water pump changed by a licensed mechanic, you have to have proof (receipt) that the work was done by a licensed mechanic. The warranty also DOES NOT cover broken sensors or accessories and is only a start-up warranty...meaning, if your engine is bagged or burns oil or runs like crap....thats not covered, its only guaranteed for 30 days that the engine will start and run. ***this info was taking directly from their website*** Every time you buy an engine from an importer/junkyard you are taking a chance. Personally, i'd never buy another engine without seeing it run in a car first. I'd just fix your tranny or get a new one, if you get a new one, get the SI tranny. |

My friend found an SI Tranny for 450$, it has 50 k on it, came off a 99 Si good or bad? i said it was too expensive |

I'm sure you could even buy an entire D16 with a tranny from a late model Si for under a grand. I'm sure there are a few around from people swapping B-series motors into their. If I was you, I'd just do a simple B20 engine and Integra tranny swap. There are plenty of reputable shops that could do an easier swap like a B20 for a reasonable amount of money.

i got a JDM si engine for my 93 civic from ******** for $600? (can't exactly remember) with 60K on it? approx. runs just fine...... $1100? might as well wait a bit a get a B16
|
shop around a d15b engine can be had for apr 400 or less a tranny for approx 200 there are plenty of FS threads on here that are selling engines and trannys! if your serious about upgrading save some more money drive on the **** tranny and buy a b16/b18/b20 setup worth the money.
Just find a reputable shop eg. ********, option jdm are my 2 #1 selections. Stay away from lucky star and tiger jdm shops IMO there really in it for a cash grab meaning there parts are **** and they dont care ! only worried about money thats through my personnal experience good luck. |
